As part of volunteer lab work, I had the opportunity to propose artwork for a large-scale LED display at the Omni Hotel in downtown Dallas, which I successfully presented for two consecutive years. The project, The 12 Days of Christmas, was produced collaboratively with a group of students and featured a new animation each night leading up to Christmas Eve. The installation kicked off the holiday season in November as part of the Omni’s Ice, Lights & City Nights multiweek event, beginning with a digital tree-lighting ceremony. A festive five-minute animation loop played overhead while guests ice-skated on a custom-built rink in the hotel plaza. I proposed and designed an animation created using motion graphics tools such as Adobe After Effects, with a strong emphasis on scale and clarity, keeping the visuals bold and simple to translate effectively across the hotel’s large LED façade.
Due to the LED’s frame rate and pixel density, the animation achieves its strongest visual impact when viewed from a distance. Surrounding streets and highways provide the ideal vantage point to experience the display’s full motion and clarity.
